Set against the backdrop of Montauk’s breathtaking coastline, this beach house renovation was all about creating a relaxed, open, and light-filled retreat that feels deeply connected to its natural surroundings. The vision was to take full advantage of the oceanfront setting—bringing in more natural light, simplifying the interior layout, and embracing a modern coastal aesthetic that feels easygoing yet refined.

A major part of the transformation involved substantial structural work. We removed several interior walls and support columns that had previously divided the space, allowing for a completely open floor plan. This effort opened up the heart of the home into a spacious great room that now features a dramatic cathedral ceiling, adding volume, light, and a real sense of architectural presence. The soaring ceiling makes the space feel airy and expansive—perfect for relaxed gatherings and everyday living alike.

To make the most of the home's incredible views, we added large, strategically placed windows along the ocean-facing side. These not only bring in an abundance of natural light, but they also frame sweeping views of the Atlantic from almost every angle. The interiors are grounded in a soft, neutral palette, complemented by warm oak finishes that bring texture and warmth without overpowering the scenery. The overall feel is modern, calm, and effortlessly coastal.

Outside, the renovation included a full overhaul of the deck areas. The original decks were expanded, reconfigured, and updated to better support outdoor living, offering multiple spaces for dining, lounging, and entertaining. Whether you're enjoying a quiet morning coffee or hosting friends for a sunset dinner, the renovated decks now feel like a true extension of the interior, with the ocean as the ever-present backdrop.

This renovation was about more than just updating finishes—it was a complete reimagining of the way the home lives, opening it up to light, air, and views, and creating a place where inside and outside blend together in the spirit of coastal Montauk living.
